Sisters Share It all: Halloween DIY

Tuesday, October 16, 2012

Janssen chose our topic for Sisters Share it All this week, and she chose a Halloween-themed DIY.  I decided to go with something that I thought might be kind of fun to do with kids, even though I don't have any of my own yet!  I run an activity twice a month with the 10 and 11 year-old girls at our church.  We had a Halloween themed activity last Wednesday, and after getting the recipe from my Grandma, we decided to make these delicious gooey carmel popcorn balls with the girls!  It wasn't until after I got home that I decided to take it one step further and make them even more festive by adding black cat ears and whiskers!  How fun would these be to drop off at a friend's house or to pull out for snack-time!

Grandma's Pop Corn Balls

2 cups of unpopped popcorn (an air popper works great to pop all of this)

1 cup light Karo syrup
1 box brown sugar

In a saucepan stir over heat until hot

add 1 cube butter

Stir till it begins to boil

add 1 can sweetened condensed milk

Stir over heat to a firm ball stage when a little of the mix is  put in cool water.

Pour over popped pop corn and mix well.    Form into balls while warm before they harden.

       Enjoy!  Happy Halloween!
