I have been putting off writing this post for about 3 months now, because I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to say about it... With a new baby, quitting my job and becoming a stay at home mom, I feel like my life is changing rapidly, as are my goals and ambitions! I am sure this is how most people feel about having children, but I know my lifestyle is changing, and I also feel like this blog needs to change, too. Loads of people change their blogs at the New Year, and I am no different (okay, so it is almost March...) and I am ready for a reboot.
When I first started this blog, I had visions of becoming a super awesome fashion blogger who looked amazing in every post, and inspired women everywhere to dress well and be happy with the way that they look. I still feel like that is important, but I don't feel like the woman for the job, and honestly, I don't want to be the woman for the job. That is Merrick's job, and she is amazing at it.
Since we moved to Austin, I have had a complete shift in paradigm, and feel strongly about eating real food, choosing an eco-friendly lifestyle (who would have thought!? Certainly not my 22-year old self!), reducing the 'stuff' that I have, and generally choosing to live an intentional life. This change in blog focus has been a long time coming, and will take a few months for me to get things totally up to speed with a recipe index and some changes to the layout of my blog, but I am really excited to shift the focus (and rename my blog...!), and try something that feels more like the current me. In fact, if you look the last 6 or so months of blogging, my content has shifted this direction anyway, with a lot more recipes and less outfit/outfit collage posts.
As I transition to a new theme, I will be mainly focusing on making and eating real food (not low fat, real ingredients and overall healthy and practical), with a little 'living with less', and the occasional outfit and baby post thrown in. I love the idea of having a more concrete theme and talking about things that I think about and talk about for fun. So now is my time to get real and share the things I am truly passionate about right now. I really hope you will continue to follow along. If you don't, I understand, and I have loved having so many kind comments, and lots of support from you all! Thanks for a great era and here's to an even better one!

I think that's great. Looking forward to healthy recipes and of course posts about your cute baby ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lena! I am really excited and I really appreciate your encouragement! And I will definitely post about the baby dude! No need to fear on that front... :)
DeleteAwesome! I'm glad you found something you can run with and be passionate about. It's so hard to pinpoint specific things, but once you find them, you're golden. I speak as a woman who just recently found her calling, as well.
ReplyDeleteOwn it, lady. You're going to be/have always been amazing!
Awww, thanks, Meghan! I am super excited, and knowing how excited I am, I am thrilled for your recent discovery! Hope it goes well!
DeleteLanden, I am excited for you, and this change that you seem so passionate about! I follow you, Janssen and Merrick. I really love that all 3 of you blog, but stick true to what you care most about and where you've found your "spot" in blogging. Looking forward to trying some of your recipes!
ReplyDeleteKelsey, thank you so much! That is so fun that you follow all three of us! I love having sisters that blog, and feel like it gives us such a connection that we wouldn't have otherwise, especially when we live about as far away as you can live in the continental US from each other. I hope I can deliver some real gem recipes! Thanks for the support!
DeleteLooking forward to the "new" blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kelly! Me too! I already have lots of fun plans that I am really looking forward to!
DeleteThis is so great! Blogging is so much easier when you don't force yourself to write posts but want to write posts! Plus, I'm always up to read about new tasty recipes.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Caitlin! I actually love blogging, but kind of felt like it was becoming a chore to write the posts, even though I think about them all the time. I am so glad to be moving onto something that I think will bring me more joy and be a little easier to write about! Thanks for following along!
DeleteYay for real food! Looking forward to seeing how the blog transitions.
ReplyDeleteI already love the recipes you have - they are simple, elegant and homey. So definitely looking forward to more of that.
ReplyDeleteAlso love your focus on simplicity, recycling/reusing and consuming less.
I follow your sisters' blogs too and they are lovely.
But you have a unique voice and style that I love - looking forward to your future posts :-)
Thank you for your lovely comment. It is so nice and very motivating to hear positive feedback already for my recipes! Thank you so much for your support!
DeleteSo excited to see your recipes and posts! I love your blog and am so glad you found your "nitch" I think with blogging you can start out with one idea and after awhile a blog starts evolving and might be something different than what you had in mind! Excited to see your new content and new blog! :) Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ruth! I am so glad you follow along! It has been so nice to get to know you through your comments, blog and instagram! Thanks for your enthusiasm! I hope I deserve it :)
